We’re looking for a Full-Time Maintenance Tradesperson to join our team!
The Tradesperson provides a safe, comfortable environment for all patients, staff and visitors by ensuring the proper operation of all physical plant buildings, equipment and systems.

JOB DUTIES:
- Troubleshoot and perform repair work on all hospital mechanical and electrical equipment and systems (i.e. water and sewer, medical gases, boilers, power distribution system, building automation, heating ventilation, air conditioning, security, life safety equipment)
- Perform required plumbing and electrical maintenance throughout the hospital complex
- Plan, maintain and record preventative maintenance program for all hospital equipment and systems as specified by the computerized PM program
- Monitor all physical plant equipment and systems by performing daily routines
- Assist, where required, outside contractors in the repair/replacement of equipment
- Commission and place all installed equipment and systems into service
- Perform regular inspections and maintain records for life safety equipment as specified under the Ontario Fire and Building Code.
- Perform duties as part of the hospital’s Fire Response Team
- Participate in the Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS Program
- Complete and maintain daily log and work orders reports on equipment and services under the requirement of Federal, Provincial and Hospital Act regulations
- Operate all physical plant equipment and systems i.e. steam and hot water boilers, air compressor, pumps, chemical treatment of water, heating and air conditioning equipment, refrigeration equipment and other plant auxiliaries
- Install, maintain and utilize computerized building management programs
- Installation and maintenance of electronic, programmable systems i.e. building security systems, fire alarm, nurse call, personal alert, etc.
- Read and interpret sketches, plans, blueprints and manufacturers specifications
- Assist with planning of projects and/or building equipment selections when required
- Create and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, parts, tools and equipment
- Assist in the administration of departmental service contracts
- Maintain and care for hospital grounds:
- Cut and water lawns, weed flower beds, trim hedges
- Remove snow and ice from walkways, stairs and entranceways including the heliport area to ensure that all are in a safe condition
- Apply ice pellets or sand, as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current holder of a valid electrical, mechanical or other building trades license
- Proficiency in computer software applications: Microsoft Office
- Knowledge in the operations, maintenance and routine care of water and sewer, medical gases, boilers, power distribution system, building automation, heating ventilation, air conditioning, security, and life safety equipment
- Proficiency in performing work in various trade skills: drywalling, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, life safety, plumbing and mechanical
- Knowledge of relevant building and other codes
- Proficiency in reading blueprints
