News Release - September 30, 2021
The Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) is a two-site small rural hospital serving the people of Mnidoo Mnising (Manitoulin Island). We are proud to operate on the traditional lands of the Anishinabek people. MHC is committed to ongoing action, awareness, and education that build on reconciliation efforts, and to work against anti-Indigenous racism. We honour the land and First nations presence, practices, language, ceremonies and protocols.
The Board of Directors for the Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) is excited to announce that the search for a permanent Chief Executive Officer has officially begun as we begin to focus on our upcoming post-pandemic recovery phase.
Our organization will be retaining the services of an Executive Recruitment firm to start the search immediately with hopes of having a new CEO in place for our organization by the start of 2022.
“I would like to take a moment to say how appreciative we are of the exceptional work by Paula Fields, Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer, and Tim Vine, Vice President of Corporate Support Services and Chief Financial Officer, who have served as acting co-CEO’s since April 5, 2021” said Dennis McGregor, Chair of the Manitoulin Health Centre Board of Directors.
Stepping up at any time, let alone in the middle of a global pandemic, is no easy task. Our organization, our patients and their families have benefited greatly from Paula and Tim’s leadership over the last six months of the pandemic.
“Together, they have ensured the organization was ready to handle the challenges of COVID-19, delivered on an effective vaccination campaign, oversaw capital developments and expansion at our Mindemoya site, while ensuring financial stability. On behalf of the board, I want to thank them both for their service and commitment to the people of our region,” said McGregor.
Both Tim and Paula will remain in their Vice President roles and as acting co-CEOs to ensure the organization continues to operate seamlessly in the best interests of our patients and families until a successor has been chosen.
We look forward to updating you on our progress later this Fall.
