LITTLE CURRENT/MINDEMOYA, ON - The Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) Board of Directors and Management remind everyone the emergency departments, at both Little Current and Mindemoya, remain open. We ask however, when attending either site, be prepared to wear a mask and be screened for COVID-19.
It is important that patients continue to be screened for the safety of themselves and our staff. It is imperative that you disclose to our screeners if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and/or if you’ve had close contact with a known case. This will ensure you are receiving the best care possible under the circumstances. When attending the Little Current emergency department, you will see the addition of screen protectors between the individual chairs in the waiting hallway.
The Government of Ontario has recently announced upcoming changes to the current COVID-19 restrictions. Although this is great news, we must continue to be diligent as COVID-19 is still very prevalent in our region. Together we must do all we can to protect our most vulnerable populations and our health care providers. This includes wearing masks, washing our hands, and maintaining social distance where appropriate.
As a result of increased cases of COVID-19 in our region, the Assessment Centre in Little Current is open for both rapid and PCR testing and by appointment only.
The hours are as follows:
Tuesday, February 22nd 8:30am – 5:20pm
Thursday, February 24th 8:30am – 5:20pm
Starting February 28th, the Assessment Centre in Little Current will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30am until 5:20pm.
At such time as you call for an appointment, the screener will determine the necessity of an appointment. To book an appointment, call (705) 368-2300 or (705) 377-5311. Please note, you may experience longer than wait times as the lines are very busy. If possible, leave a message and someone will call you back.
The Board and Management of MHC wish to thank the community for their cooperation and remind everyone to continue to be diligent and stay safe. We also wish to thank all of our staff for their continued dedication to the health and welfare of our community. Thank you for showing up every day and living by our values, Respect, Passion and Truth! As a community, we ask that you be respectful of our dedicated staff.
